Would the lens of my snowboard goggles still be okay if I wiped the inside only once or are they ruined?
I just wore my new snowboard goggles (Electric EG.5) today and wiped the inside of the goggles, not knowing it would ruin the anti-fog. I took it off when it was snowing outside and snow got behind the goggles and I wiped it away (the inside) with a napkin. I know it messes it up but since i only did that once and don’t wipe the inside regularly, would they still be fog protected?
Would it be okay to wipe even the inside of the goggles with the cloth case?
OK, NEVER EVER EVER wipe them with a napkin again, that will permanently scratch them. You should use the cloth case they came with. All snowboard goggles come with a cloth case, that case was also designed to wipe your goggles out. If you don’t have the case then use a 100% cotton T-shirt. Never use napkins, paper towels, or toilet paper. There are small wood fibers in those that can and will leave permanent scratches in the delicate plastic lens inside your goggles. Wood is stronger than plastic.
**EVEN when you use the case or a 100% cotton shit, use the least amount of pressure possible to wipe them. You can scratch them even with a silk cloth if you apply too much pressure. Try to wipe them as lightly as possible.
They are not ruined yet, so long as you can see. I get snow in my goggle sometimes too, but I just wait until I get onto the chair to take out my cloth goggle case to wipe them out.
