Forever and All Christmas Night…?
This poem is out of season, but I wrote it around Christmas time and since I started cleaning out my writing box, I found it. I don’t think I was even serious when I wrote this one.

Sore throats, fur coats,
And hot chocolate floats.
Red noses, white roses,
And warm house door closes.
Trembling hands, vast white lands.
And children’s present demands
Shiv’ring kids, cold forbids,
And ski landing skids.
Home cooking, ornament hooking,
And across-the-room looking.
Gift wrap ripping, melted snow dripping,
And coat, hat, gloves stripping.
Gath’ring friends, rival amends,
And an air of happiness suspends.
Through this night, light burns bright,
And forever and all I write.
Really good! It really feels Christmassy now (I’m wearing Ugg boots because I broke my toe)
Some of the best stuff we write or paint comes when we just mess around and not especially try. I really like this, there are hardly any rhyming stretches, and you really captured the essence of the season. Great rhyming and hope you find more treasures like this in your writing box.
