Can you breed a pink and black convict cichlid?
I have a male black stripped convict and a female pink convict. Can and will they breed?
Yes. They are just color variations fo the same fish. However, pink convicts tend to breed less that the black, or are more difficult to get to breed.
It is unclear why, but may be the lack of pigment in the pink convicts, causing a conflict with the instinct on reacting to vibrant colors to stimulate breeding behavior. That is just a guess though.
