what is the best anti-fog for swim goggles?
I’m currently using Speedo brand. It works OK but it’s not great. Any suggestions of other brands/products would be appreciated.
They’re all more or less the same. I use Sea Drops, myself, but that’s just because my local dive shop carries it and nothing else. Works just fine for me diving cold water and thermoclines, where fogging happens at it’s worst with the large temperature drops.
Have you tried a little white toothpaste on the inside of the lens if these are new goggles? Most mask and goggle manufacturers put a chemical protective film on the lens before it’s shipped out of the factory to prevent scratching during the shipping and handling process. It needs to come off. Put a dab of white toothpaste (not gel) on a finger tip and rub it around the inside of the lens. Rinse. That will take off that chemical film and needs only to be done once. Then apply your anti fog prior to your swims. Dab on inside lens, rub it around the inside lens with a finger and rinse. You can actually use that toothpaste as a temporary anti fog if you run out of your usual brand, although it won’t work as well. Never use spit unless it’s a dire emergency. Spit comes from the dirtiest place in the human body and contains more nasty bacteria per drop than some of the worst looking water. Not the best thing to have right next to your eyeballs, since you CAN get an eye infection that way. There’s no reason to risk that if you have an alternative such as a proper anti fog.
