How far can your toes stick out over the edge of your snowboard?
My toes stick out about 1.5in. Is this bad for toeside turns? I have The 2008 K2 WWW, a 155 board with ride xr bindings and burton moto boots. Should I have a problem?
Ideally, you wouldn’t want more than 1-1.5 cm overhang. It’s only a big issue if you want to lay down some deep carves. If you’re primarily riding in the terrain park (what the WWW excels at) you can get away more toe drag because you’re not really carving, although it might give you a little less stability when trying to ride out of sketchy landings.
Some easy options for you to reduce the toe overhang would be:
1.) “duck” out your stance (increase positive and negative angles on your front and back foot, respectively).
2.) adjust your bindings so that your heels are further back (assuming you don’t already have a lot of heel drag).
3.) use binding risers/elevators (these give you extra clearance so that even with the toe overhang, you can lay down a deeper carve before your toes drag). Do a web search for “burton elevator” to see an example. I use these on my powder board.
