What do snowboarding, The Beasty Boys, Nova Scotia, skateboarding, and knee injuries have in common? If you guessed a new-era video game about an alien who is injured on earth and learns the way of surfers and their unique music, you would be wrong. (That scenario is not too far off from modern video games. however).
Seriously, the correct answer would be Trevor (Trouble) Andrew, the king of “crunk-rock”; an energetic, electronic hybrid consisting of a concoction of unfamiliar music genres that, as Andrew says himself “[mixed] the musical influences of [his] youth”. Two main sources for Andrew’s unique music are punk-rock and hip-hop. While recuperating from a torn ACL at his girlfriend’s home in Philadelphia, PA., Trouble discovered a love for creating music on his newly purchased drum machine, and guitar. Andrew’s tunes range from straight-up rock, to rap, and the artist even covers ‘What’s so strange about me’ originally written and recorded by Eight Dayz.
Currently residing in New York City, New York, Andrew’s refreshing blend of music is not the only area in which he chooses to dabble. Trevor aka Trouble Andrew is known for his talent on a snowboard, which he learned as a wee boy on the icy bumps that the Maritimers call “mountains” in Nova Scotia. Since first discovering a love for skateboarding and snowboarding, Andrew has worked his way up the corporate ladder, first as a “flow” (sponsored, unpaid) athlete, now as a professional athlete signed by Burton snowboards and apparel, Analog apparel, and Oakley eyewear and apparel, to name a few.
The future looks bright for Andrew, both in action sports and music. His snowboarding is profiled in various North American snowboard magazines, internet sites, and dvd’s. Trouble’s music is profiled on Much Music, MTV, the internet via Trouble Andrew’s Myspace page at troubleandrew.com, and video-sharing sites such as Youtube.com. With the world wide web at his fingertips, and exposure from his sponsors at snowboard contests and music festivals, Trouble Andrew is here to stay.
