Although the use of equipment like parachutes, elastic bands and other pieces of equipment can help athletes improve their speed, it will only produce what I call counterfeit speed.
Counterfeit speed is an achievement of speed that only last for a short period of time. Now the reasons that this happens is because speed training is done ass backwards in sports.
Athletes tend to train with of these gimmicks in the hope they’ll improve their physical speed to the level that they want. The problem comes in the way that it’s done. Let me explain this process and why it only works on a temporary basis.
Whatever piece of equipment that you use will focus on the physical body to do certain repetitions that will produce a feeling of improvement in speed. The problem comes in when you can’t replicate this speed during competition or in a crucial situation when you need it the most.
Although you’ll experience a fast improvement, it will also leave you in a rapid way. The biggest reason this type of speed training doesn’t work is because you’re focusing on the physical body to do something that will hopefully convince your brain in accepting a certain level of speed in your sport.
Remember that it’s you brain that rules your physical body and not the other way around. Athletes need to be able to tap into their brain in such a way that it will dictate the proper amount of speed that you will need to perform a movement or your techniques.
What athletes need to learn is how to control the internal thermostat that controls the communication between the mind and body. Once you have this knowledge on how to control this thermostat then you’ll be able to regulate the exact amount of speed that you want in your sport.
If this hard? Actually it’s a simple technique that is based on knowledge that has been around for over a thousand years but the problem was that nobody till now has ever been able to crack the code and use it for sports.
So in my opinion parachutes, elastic bands, and other gimmicks and equipment don’t really work in the long run, so athletes need to find a fast alternative to enable them to achieve and maintain the desired level of speed that they want in their sport.
